As the Rail Safety 101 principal, Michael Maartensz has extensive experience in managing all aspects of safety within high risk working environments. He has a deep understanding of accreditation requirements (RSNL and OFSC) and certification requirements (ISO 45001). Michael is a seasoned safety leader and has previously worked with ONRSR as a Senior Rail Safety Officer.

Under the RSNL Rail Transport Operators must seek and maintain rail safety accreditation. In 2011, Safe Work Australia developed the model work health and safety (WHS) laws to be implemented across Australia. To become legally binding the Commonwealth, states and territories must separately implement them as their own laws. Safe Work Australia is responsible for maintaining the model WHS laws.
