As the Rail Safety 101 principal, Michael Maartensz has extensive experience in managing all aspects of safety within high risk working environments. He has a deep understanding of accreditation requirements (RSNL and OFSC) and certification requirements (ISO 45001). Michael is a seasoned safety leader and has previously worked with ONRSR as a Senior Rail Safety Officer.

Under the RSNL Rail Transport Operators must seek and maintain rail safety accreditation. Rail Safety 101 has the expertise to manage and coordinate new accreditation applications and variations to accreditation with ONRSR. Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner (OFSC)
The OFSC acts to improve workplace health and safety practices on building and construction sites across Australia. This is done through the administration of the Australian Government Building and Construction Work Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme (the Scheme) and by promoting safety across the industry.
Rail Safety National Law (RSNL)
The RSNL is a legislative framework designed to ensure the safety of rail operations across multiple Australian states and territories. The RSNL is administered by the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR)
Work Health and Safety Legislation
In 2011, Safe Work Australia developed the model work health and safety (WHS) laws to be implemented across Australia. To become legally binding the Commonwealth, states and territories must separately implement them as their own laws. Safe Work Australia is responsible for maintaining the model WHS laws.

ISO 45001 is an international standard for health and safety at work developed by national and international standards committees independent of government. Implementing ISO 45001 may help your organisation demonstrate compliance with health and safety law.
